Katrina Kaif on the budget.

BOLLYWOOD UNCENSORED

This is what Katrina said on her expectations of the budget.

To be honest, since I'm not born and brought up in India, it has been only in the last couple of years that I have witnessed and understood the Budget System in India. Every year, I hear friends around me commenting on various aspects of the Budget and I think it is quite interesting. I think my biggest expectation would be that there are no unpleasant surprises. I understand that there should be certain ups and downs for a successful economy, however, I hope there are more benefits this time around.

To me this sounds like a dumb school kid trying to give a lecture on a subject that is beyond his (or her) intellectual capacity. Katrina, stick to your sniffing on the screen and for God's sake just shut up about things that you do not understand.

Emraan Hashmi kissed by girl during shooting!

BOLLYWOOD UNCENSORED

Emraan Hashmi does get the female hormones flowing, that is for sure! He was kissed by a girl while he was shooting for a film. Now most of guys would love something like this happening to us. But I can understand Emraan irritation over the incident. I mean, if you are a celeb, it does not mean you are public property.

From the picture it appears Emraan is enjoying the smooch. The expression of anger was just TAMASHA to improve his iamge? Or let me be generous; he enjoyed the kiss (his natural instinct?) at the moment but later the irritation came in.

Aishwarya Rai is now part of the Bachchan Inc.

The Bachchans are a brand. Before it was only Amitabh Bachchan. Then Abhisekh joined. Now Aishwarya too is being merged into it. Ash perhaps married Abhishek because of this. Joining two strong brands ( something like when Coca-Cola had taken over Thums-up years ago) can work wonders. Worldly pleasures endure for a little while, but a brand, if nurtured well, grows and blossomed. There is nothing satisfying than to be a brand, an icon.

The alliances with the likes of Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi were because of immaturity on Ash's part. None of them had the wisdom of Amitabh when it comes of nurturing image assiduously.

Salman is too rash. What with running over sleeping pavements dwellers and stupidly killing black bucks in Rajasthan. Vivek Oberoi is no better. His public TU-TU MAIN-MAIN with Salman over Ash reeked of idiocy. Such things leave a bad impression on the public mind. They can forget about becoming legends. Only legends can become strong brands.

Ash is learning this fast. The way she has begun to publicize her forthcoming July tour with Amitabh and Abhishekh shows that. You may well ask what is the use of carefully building one's public image (brand). The answer is simple. Look at the amount of moolah the Bachchans are raking in. It is because of the Bachchan brand. Strong brands always are cash cows. Ask any marketing professional.

Jiah Khan gets a lover and Sherlyn Chopra going to Hollywood?

bollylandxyz.blogspot.com

BOLLYWOOD UNCENSORED

Jiah Khan has found a new, exotic Latino lover. "Jiah who," many of you folks may ask. Well she is the hot teenager, who wooed the older Amitabh Bachchan in the not-so-hot Nishabd. If you ask "Nishabd what", forget about it.

Anyway, Jiah seems to have hitched up in a rather loose relationship with one Alejandro from Santa Monica. So we are supposed to rejoice or what? Good for her.

Jiah must be ruing the fact that she refused the Rs. 1 crore for a bikini ad last year. Or did she chicken out. JANTA KYA KAHEGI? Or maybe Aamir must have coerced her to refuse. Jiah is in his forthcoming remake of Ghajini.

And Sherlyn Chopra is going to Hollywood! Not her again, you may groan. But folks, she keeps coming up with GARAM PAKODA news. Hard to ignore that fact.

It seems she has impressed the legendary Robert Redford and so she is going to act in one of his films. If you yawn at this, I can understand that. We have heard many stories of Bollywood actors getting breaks in Hollywood films. Most of them turned out to be untrue. And in rare cases we did get to see them in a mainstream Hollywood flick, they were in sidey roles.

The only two notable exceptions were Om Puri in 'Ghost and the Darkness' and Amrish Puri in 'Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom.' Om Puri was a coolie; that hardly made us hold our heads high. The less said of Amrish in the Harrison Ford starrer Spielberg film. He hollered like a mad man throughout the film in a weird getup as we sat squirming in embarrassment in our cinema hall seats.

Hope Sherlyn does better.

Jodhaa Akbar: The communal angle

bollylandxyz.blogspot.com

BOLLYWOOD UNCENSORED

“Jodhaa Akbar banned in Madhya Pradesh". The news stared at me as I leafed through the morning papers. The hulla baloo has started since the film hit the screens. Posters have been burned in many places. Court cases have been filed.

The ostensible reason for the protests has been that history has been distorted in the film. Some say that Jodhaa Bai was married to Akbar's son, Jehangir, and not to the Mughal emperor himself. Others protestors say Rajput women in old times committed sati rather than marry Muslim kings.

All this betrays the fact that some Rajputs are finding it hard to accept history. It has been cleared said by eminent historians that the Akbar-Jodhabai marriage was to seal the alliance between some of the Rajput kings and the Mughals.

Them why this protests? It would be wise to accept historical facts. It is a fact that some Rajput kings (the main was Raja Man Singh; Rana Pratap opposed kowtowing to the Mughals till the end) had accepted Akbar's suzerainty. Then why this poster burning now?

Is it because a Hindu girl marries a Muslim man in Jodhaa Akbar? There were no such protests when a Muslim girl married a Hindu guy in Mani Ratnam's Arvind Swamy-Manisha Koirala starrer 'Bombay.'

The present controversy thus has a communal angle. Secondly some sections of Rajputs find it hard to swallow reality.

India has still many battles to fight before it truly matures into a secular country.

Sherlyn Chopra improves butt-wise

bollylandxyz.blogspot.com

BOLLYWOOD UNCENSORED

In the past few days whenever I tried to read the latest about Bollywood, all I got was that Sherlyn Chopra had got a butt job done. Why this extensive exposure to the new (and supposedly improved) edition of the posterior of Miss Chopra?

The obvious answer is that we men like to read titillating news about sexy women. We feel the tinge of sexual arousal perhaps? But I think the ladies must be getting bored to death with this butt saga. Or am I wrong, girls? I suppose those amongst you who want to look sexier must have found it very interesting.

Coming back to Sherlyn Chopra. She has said in an interview to the Times of India and I quote,

Since I wanted to raise the bar and reach out to a bigger audience, I felt it was essential to have the right statistics
On one level the fact that comes across is that this lady is very ambitious and practical. (She reminds me of Mamta Kulkarni. Hope she does not end up like her) She understands that in today's outward looking Bollywood, a girl has to look good.

But one also feels a twinge of disappointment. Is this what Bollywood is coming to? Girls looking to move up by improving the looks of her butts? I thought acting skills counted the most. I guess I am perhaps armchair theorizing. Maybe Sherlyn has got it right. Body counts more than histrionics aptitude.
